Check yourself…

I had to remind myself tonight: “check yourself, before you wreck yourself.” I almost ended the night eating an entire package of cookies. Fortunately, I STOPPED. I went over my calorie allowance for the day, but I almost threw in the towel and completely lost it. I’m still in a deficit for the day! Phew.

I’ll be running around all day tomorrow -packing, errands, last minute shopping, loading my car, and babysitting during the evening. I need to pack up my bathroom, which includes my scale! I might weigh-in tomorrow morning and then again on Monday morning since I’ll most likely miss my Sunday weigh-in.

Meeting my goals

I met my goals today. I didn’t do any formal exercise but I’ve been keeping busy packing and cleaning! I can’t wait for my bodybugg digital display to come. I’m feeling really stressed this week as I prepare to move and start grad school. I’m trying not to fall back on old habits and turn to food when I’m stressed.

Much better

I did much better today. I was feeling a little depressed after I had two bad days of reverting back to stress eating. I’m learning that no amount of food changes how you feel. Today, when I started feeling anxious or stressed I took a walk outside instead of reaching for more food.I was able to meet my calorie burn goal today, which I’ve been struggling with. I think once I move and get settled at grad school I will be able to map out an exercise routine. I also ordered the Bodybugg digital display today. I think it will help to see my calorie burn throughout the day.

Breaking Even

Calorie goal: 1,700;  calories consumed: 2,418;  calories burned: 2,344;  net calories: 74

Today I broke even. I consumed almost the same amount of calories I burned.  I have to blame P.F. Chang’s for this (well, I should actually blame myself but it’s easier to blame the restaurant).  I should have been proactive and researched what to order before going there for lunch today, but I ordered the cashew chicken lunch bowl w/brown rice, thinking I was making a solid choice, but NO.  I later found out that my entire lunch was approx. 1,000 calories. Holy crap. I left myself about 200 calories for dinner and was pretty pissed about not planning ahead. I ended up ALMOST forfeiting the whole day, but didn’t. I did pig-out tonight, but not so much that I would end the day in a food coma nursing a stomach ache.

Initial reaction to the day: Stupid P.F. Chang’s ruined everything!

Reflection on the day: The perfectionist in me wants all my calorie consumption/calorie burn to fall into place perfectly every day. I want a precise calorie deficit at the end of each day when I plug my bodybugg in, and if I can’t be perfect, I give up. After lunch, I wanted to forget the whole day and binge on cake, ice cream, and sweets (which I still did, just a little). BUT, I didn’t let myself completely fall back into binge eating. I have to tell myself it’s OK to make mistakes as long as I learn from them.

Lesson Learned: When eating out make sure you plan ahead. Also, split your entree at P.F. Chang’s to save a whopping 500 calories next time!

Another Run in the Vibrams

I did another run/walk in my Vibram Five Fingers this morning. It felt better than my last run and my runs were a little bit longer than before. I might try to run again on Friday and see how it feels. So far, I haven’t had any major aches or pains after running so the VFF seem to be helping my running form. After my run I did some cleaning (and cleaning = calorie burn!) and then ran a few errands. My diet was good today. It was fairly healthy with some ice cream to end the day!

My bodybugg said my calorie burn was around 2,830, which is the most I’ve burned since I started using it. I consumed right around my 1,700 so I have a good deficit on the day, which will hopefully make up for those days when I didn’t reach my goal deficit. I’m thinking about getting the bodybugg digital display watch since I have no idea what my calorie burn is until I plug it in at the end of the day. It would be nice to see my progress throughout the day so I can judge weather to start moving more to reach my goal by bed time.

Initial reaction to the day: Nice calorie burn. Drink more water.

Reflection on the day: I’m beginning to realize that I can achieve my calorie burn goal without a gym membership. I just have to remember to be more active! I’m still not drinking a lot of water, but I’m working on it. Overall, I’m actually looking forward to my Sunday weigh-in to see the progress I’ve made.

Need More Exercise

I’ve managed to stay within my calorie budget (well +50 cals, but good enough!) but I need to include more activity and exercise into my day so I can reach my calorie burn goal of ~2450. The question is: how can I do this?

I think I need to realize that exercise is possible without a gym membership and that ALL ACTIVITY contributes to my calorie burn goal. I need to find ways to include more activity throughout the day.

Initial reaction to the day: Need to exercise more. Need to be more active.

Reflection on the day: Today was OK. I went to the movies and had about half a bag of that yummy, really bad for you, movie theater popcorn, but I was able to account for those calories somewhat accurately (I think). Later, our family celebrated Taco Tuesday, which is an event that occurs periodically on Tuesdays. I enjoyed my 2 fish tacos and managed to stay out of the chip basket!
